Mission Statement

The mission of the Coalition for the Barbados Association of Central Florida (CBAOCF), otherwise known as Central Florida Bajans (CFL Bajans), is to encourage networking and to promote kinship among Barbadians (Bajans) living in Central Florida. Our association maintains avenues of communication between Barbadians in Central Florida and their homeland Barbados, and fosters educational, cultural, and business operations, to further the joint interests of Bajans in both regions in an open, friendly environment.

Scholarship

The Coalition for Barbados Association of Central Florida, alias CFL Bajans, support young Bajans in Central Florida pursuing their education through the offering of a scholarship annually.

The scholarship is available to residents of Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Lake County who are descendants of Barbadian parents. Proof of Barbadian heritage must be submitted with the application. Applicants must be a high school graduate. Applicants should also be attending an institution of higher education in the state of Florida.
The scholarship amount is maximum $500 per an applicant yearly. The scholarship is available for a minimum of one academic year. As a condition of the scholarship, ALL funds are paid directly to the educational institution.
The deadline for applications is the second Monday in April each year. Applications should include an essay about the applicant's educational goals, a filled out application form, three personal references, and official transcripts. Recipients will be notified by 1st June.
