Mission Statement

The mission of the Coalition for the Barbados Association of Central Florida (CBAOCF), otherwise known as Central Florida Bajans (CFL Bajans), is to encourage networking and to promote kinship among Barbadians (Bajans) living in Central Florida. Our association maintains avenues of communication between Barbadians in Central Florida and their homeland Barbados, and fosters educational, cultural, and business operations, to further the joint interests of Bajans in both regions in an open, friendly environment.

Central Florida Bajans Elections 2017

The Coalition for the Barbados Association of Central Florida (CBAOCF) elections will be held on 19th August 2017. The Election Committee is soliciting nominations from current members during the months of May, June and July 2017 for positions on the Board of Directors for the Association. Eligible candidates should:
  • be in good financial standing at the time of their nomination;
  • have a good understanding of the Association's By-Laws;
  • be prepared to give a short presentation on why he or she is standing for the position on the Board of Directors

Note that in such a case the official ballot must be hand delivered or mailed, post marked no later than August 12, 2017, to 1426 Simpson Road, Ste, Kissimmee, FL 34744.

The Board positions available for the period 2018 - 2020 are outlined below.

President of CFLBajans

President and Chairman of the Board of Directors

The person in this post shall:

  • Preside over all regular and special association meetings;
  • Announce all business coming before the Association according to its prescribed order of business;
  • Recognize all members who are entitled to the floor;
  • Enforce rules of debate and decorum within the Association.
Vice president of CFLBajans

Vice President

The person in this post shall:

  • Support the President;
  • Assume the duties of the President in his or her absence.
Treasurer

Treasurer

The person in this post shall:

  • Assume the role of caretaker of the Association funds;
  • Receive and deposits all Association dues and funds into the bank account approved by the Association;
  • Disperse funds upon written authorization of the Board of Directors;
  • Make monthly financial reports to the Association;
  • Sign all checks for disbursement and withdrawals from accounts with countersignature by President or Vice President;
  • Maintain records of Association receipts and disbursements and make such records available for periodic inspection by the Board of Directors.
Recording Secretary of CFLBajans

Recording Secretary

The person in this post shall:

  • In the absence of the President and Vice President, the Recording Secretary will call the Association meetings to order and presides over the meetings;
  • Maintain a current record of membership;
  • Maintain records containing Bylaws, Minutes, Special rules, Amendments, and Committee reports;
  • Provide minutes and records to members upon request.
Corresponding Secretary of CFLBajans

Corresponding Secretary

The person in this post shall:

  • Notify members of all regular and special meetings in a timely manner;
  • Receive and reports on all correspondence to the Association;
  • Collaborate with the Secretary in replying to correspondence;
  • Manage providing guest speakers for monthly meetings.
Assistant Treasurer of CFLBajans

Assistant Treasurer

The person in this post shall:

  • Assist the Treasurer in carrying out his or her duties;
  • Perform other duties from time to time directed by the Board of Directors
